UX Design and Research

If you or your company works with people, there are many times in a business life cycle where we need to know what the experience those people have with our business.  This can be their experience with your company, product, services, or app. A UX Designer is there to do the research to understand their experience at a deeper level so you can provide the best user experience.

Overview

As a UX designer and researcher I work to study and analyze user behavior, needs, and preferences to create designs that cater to the target audience.

User Experience Design and Research uses methods such as interviews, surveys, user testing, and analytics to gather insights and understand user goals and pain points.

I will also work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, product managers, and visual designers to ensure that the user experience aligns with business goals and technical feasibility.

Research

During the research phase of our work we conduct in-depth research using various qualitative and quantitative research methods such as interviews, surveys, user testing, and company analytics to gather insights and understand user goals and pain points.

From broad quantitative data like surveys and company anayltics we can creating user personas based on research findings. This helps represent different user segments, helping the team understand and empathize with the target audience.

We use qualitative data from one on one interviews and user testing to look at the specifics of the user journey. This data helps to inform design decisions and way to outline the best possible user experience.

Design

All our work moves in phases: The design phase jumps to creating wireframes and prototypes to visualize and test design concepts. These low-fidelity representations allow quick iteration of the designs. These are outlines to makes sure there is a good visual flow and the user can get from point A to B with little difficultly.

We then go back to research to gather more feedback before moving to high-fidelity designs where we implement color, User Interface elements, body copy and interactive elements.

UX design structures and organizes information in a way that enhances user navigation and interaction for clear pathways to achieve tasks or goals.

A User Experience (UX) Designer and Researcher play crucial roles in ensuring that products, Apps, Interactive tools or services meet the needs and expectations of their users by focusing on usability, accessibility, and overall user satisfaction.

Common Projects

I can work with just about anyone, because we all need people investing into our business, services, and products, however, these are more common projects I am hired for:

App or Interactive Development Research- Doing user research to see what is needed in development and what the end user truly needs as a solution.

App or Interactive Development Testing
- Doing research and user testing on the phases of development to make sure the product is intuitive for users.

Implementation of new Branding and marketing strategy - User Test to see how your branding will sit with your target audience and if it resonates with customers.

How I work

Every project is different, so all timelines and research plans are created custom for each client. The first thing we do is an assessment of your project with a discovery call. From there we can understand how big or small your UX Design Research phase will / could be.

Bigger Projects: Some projects require more research and testing than others like Application and Interactive development, new trainings with unique educational approaches for problem solving. Or if your project is just in the investigation stages of learning what solutions might be appropriate.

We work together to find out what the “problem” is and create a plan to test or survey end users to see what types of solutions fit their needs. Examples of this would be: What types of trainings are most helpful?, does this application flow make sense?, what do certain visuals make you think of for this brand? However as a UX designer and researcher these questions are built in a way to illicit response we can build from. (Non leading questions)

Having a user experience designer on your team can be the perfect solution to learn what next steps to take for your end user.
